Kingsway Mall

Kingsway Mall is committed to sustainability and has deployed many energy and emissions reducing programs, including:

• Motion sensor lights in all common areas
• LED lighting throughout the entire centre, including the parking lot
• Energy-efficient HVAC equipment
• Energy-efficient maintenance trucks
• Recycling of all wooden pallets, food-use oil, e-waste, bottles and cans, cardboard and paper waste

Kingsway continued to expand its sustainability program in 2023 with the introduction of a rooftop garden, featuring various fruits, vegetables and herbs, in support of Edmonton’s Food Bank.

From May through September, Kingsway was home to a robust urban garden, focused on growing fresh produce for a cause. The Kingsway garden repurposed unused rooftop space to create a sustainable, local solution in the heart of the city to contribute to the increasing demand for fresh, nutritious sources of food for Edmontonians in need.

Working with MicroHabitat, Kingsway cultivated a garden of 30 planters. All produce harvested was donated to Edmonton’s Food Bank to help combat food insecurity in the Edmonton community.

Kingsway was proudly awarded the BOMA BEST Gold Certification in 2023. BOMA (Building Owners & Managers Association) is the leading environmental certification program for commercial buildings. The BOMA BEST program sets national benchmarks for sustainability in building operations.
